Protecting Your Peace

Not everything deserves your energy.

Peace isn't something we find

It’s easy to imagine peace lives on the other side of the hard stuff - when the difficult person backs off, work settles down, the money stress eases or life finally gives you a minute.

But life doesn’t tend to stay quiet for long.

Peace is less about waiting for everything around us to change, and more about becoming aware of what we allow into our inner world - and recognising that not everything deserves a place there.

Protecting your peace

We influence each other more than we realise. Some conversations leave us feeling lighter, while others stay with us long after they’ve ended. Some people bring out the best in us; others leave us tense, exhausted or emotionally drained.

The environments we spend time in, the content we consume and the people we surround ourselves with all shape how we feel and move through the world.

The more you notice what affects you, the easier it becomes to see what you need more of - and what you might need less.of.

You might notice...

You walk away from one conversation feeling lighter, while another leaves you in a weird mood for the rest of the day.

Some places make your shoulders drop. Others put you on edge. Someone you love can completely drain you, while someone else somehow makes you feel more like yourself just by being around them.

You scroll for twenty minutes and feel worse about your own life. You spend time outside and your head feels clearer.

None of those things are huge on their own, but once you start paying attention, you begin to notice what gets into your head, what affects your energy and what you actually feel better around.

That’s useful information.

You can't always choose what knocks on your door.

You can choose what you let in.

Try this

Over the next few days, notice how you feel after different conversations, environments and interactions.

Who leaves you feeling lighter?

What leaves you feeling drained?

Which spaces help you feel like yourself?

You don’t have to do anything with what you notice yet. Just pay attention to what keeps showing up.

Finish these sentences.

I feel most at peace when...

I tend to lose my peace when...

One thing I can do this week to protect my peace is...

Protecting your peace
